One thing I have learned from competition is how important it is to pose correctly and effectively. I usually start practicing 3 weeks before competition and do it about 3-4 times per week. Everybody has a weakness, but if you hit your poses they can hide the flaws in your physique. I am not a genetic "freak". So I have to practice the mandatory poses over and over again. I have received many compliments on my posing. I give all the credit to my trainer, who has taught me the art of posing. Butch Paradis has won numerous awards for his posing in competitions. If you want to learn more about the pre-judging mandatory poses. You can log on to http://www.bodybuildingcompetitionguide.com/posingrounds.htm . This is an instruction site that can give you information about the pre-judging poses and how to perform them. Remember, though, everybody poses differently. You need to find your own effective and comfortable poses. Work with a partner to get their feedback. When you are on stage, you will feel tired and may even cramp up. It is at this time that you will not give in. Remember all the hard work you put into this. You can overcome and succeed. Believe in yourself.
The evening show is the fun part for family and friends. Decide on a unique routine. Usually it is a routine performed to 60 seconds of music. Pick a song and a routine that fits your personality and character. Bodybuilding is an art form and you are there to show everybody your work. The stage is your canvas. You own it. Be confident and believe you belong on this floor.
